Central Polk Parkway Study
The purpose of the Central Polk Parkway is to provide an additional north-south facility to reduce traffic congestion, including truck traffic, on several corridors in central Polk County. These corridors include parallel facilities like US 98, US 17 and US 27. In addition, another north-south roadway connecting SR 60 and I-4 would not only relieve congestion by dispersing traffic, it would allow for better connectivity, thus enhancing mobility in Polk County and Central Florida.
A Project Development and Environment (PD&E) study is an environmental and engineering process that was developed by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) in order to determine social, economic, natural and physical environmental impacts associated with a proposed transportation improvement project.
The study corridors are from State Road 60 to Interstate 4. FDOT will be conducting community meetings for public and agency involvement.
